Absolutely loving My Money Week.  Here is how the week is looking for Mathematical/Money stuff:

Monday – Using games on My Money website as an introduction

Tuesday – What would you spend £100 on to improve the Academy.  Most innovative ideas get voted on and then put into practice

Wednesday – Financial discussions

Wednesday PM – Fortunity

Thursday – INSET day

Friday – TBA

The Project

Each Personal Learning (form) group was given a fantasy £10,000 to invest in shares from five of the markets around the World.  The project was introduced and is backed up by short videos produced by the Specialism team.  These videos were shown during the PL Specialism slot.

The Purpose

The project has several objectives:

• Help students understand the link between their every days lives and the prices of stocks and shares
• Educate students about how the stock market works
• Enhance Maths learning with practical applications of Maths knowledge

The Impact

Feedback from students is very positive.  Not only are they active participants during PL time several have also now opened their own fantasy trading accounts.  Colleagues are also very enthusiastic and there is a staff league running parallel with the PL group competition.
